A mother has faced criticism on social media for adopting a diet for her children primarily consisting of animal products, including desiccated organs, meat, eggs, and milk. Izabelle, formerly a vegan, now follows a 90% carnivore diet along with her family, a dietary shift she once regarded as unconventional.

Despite initial skepticism, Izabelle claims to have observed remarkable improvements in her and her children’s health since adopting this diet.

According to the 32-year-old nutritionist, they now experience enhanced immunity and increased energy levels.

Izabelle, who has two children, Noah, four, and Taj, one, with another on the way, asserts that their daily meals predominantly consist of raw milk, egg yolks, desiccated organs, and red meat, with minimal vegetable intake.

Feeding her children in this manner has sparked controversy online, particularly after a recent video garnered over three million views and elicited significant backlash.

Izabelle, hailing from the Sunshine Coast, Australia, addressed the criticism, stating, “Some people find it extreme or unusual that we don’t include vegetables in every, or any, meal.”

Initially skeptical, Izabelle admitted, “I thought the carnivore diet sounded crazy, too, years ago.” However, after experiencing its benefits firsthand, her perspective shifted.

Despite facing criticism, including from angry vegans, she remained undeterred, stating, “Their hate hasn’t affected us at all.” Izabelle’s journey to a predominantly animal-based diet began after her second pregnancy, aiming to replenish nutrients and shed postpartum weight.

Formerly a vegan eight years ago, she transitioned to a paleo diet before fully embracing a carnivorous lifestyle, asserting that she’ll never revert to conventional eating habits.

Initially concerned about the absence of vegetables in her family’s diet after introducing solid foods to her son Taj at six months, Izabelle eventually dismissed their importance.

She emphasized the financial savings, estimating roughly $400 per month by reducing vegetable purchases.

A typical day’s diet for Taj consists of a breakfast comprising three pasture-raised eggs cooked in grass-fed butter and mixed berries.

For lunch, Taj enjoys 100 grams of 100% homemade beef burgers with grass-fed butter, accompanied by 10 prawns, and later snacks on half an apple.

His dinner typically features slow-cooked grass-fed beef brisket with meat stock and milk. In a viral video, Izabelle elaborates on the positive impact of feeding her child the carnivore diet for six months, noting that he achieved developmental milestones earlier than peers and remains allergy-free.

Izabelle asserts that Taj is taller and stronger than peers his age, and doctors confirm their good health. She recalls Taj’s early milestones, noting his walking at seven months and nearly running at ten months. She expresses relief in not needing to coerce her child to eat plants or conceal them in meals.

The family enjoys improved health, reduced cooking stress, financial savings, and tasty meals while supporting local farmers. Although not fully carnivorous, her third child will adopt this diet at six months. Izabelle’s own dietary routine includes a breakfast of coffee with cream, scrambled eggs cooked in grass-fed butter and pasture-raised eggs, and a grass-fed beef sausage.

Her lunch typically comprises slow-cooked grass-fed beef brisket with meat stock, while dinner consists of assorted leftovers like chicken breast, parmesan cheese, blue cheese, watermelon, and desiccated organs.

Not everyone online is so convinced of the benefits of the diet, with Instagram users sharing their thoughts.

A social media user commented: “Stop forcing your lifestyle on your child.”

“This is idiotic. This type of content should be illegal,” someone else commented.

Another person added: “Or give him plants and meat. Your kids are going to have heart problems at 10.”

“This kid will become a Viking and conquer foreign lands by age 10,” one user commented.

Speaking about the strong reaction, Izabelle said: “[It has been] divided.
“I have gotten a lot of support and requests from families who want to introduce more meat into their children’s diet.

“I am currently creating a ‘Milk to Meat’ guide on how to start solids using a meat-based approach for babies and toddlers.

“The focus here is baby led weaning, real nutrient-dense foods and moving away from fortified rice cereal, purées and ready-made baby food, which can contain vegetables that are several years old, preservatives and other nasties.

“I always recommend my clients and families to do what feels good for them.

“Never copy 100% of what we are doing, all families and kids are different – so make it your own.”
