Stuart Broad has left some customers less than bowled over after they visited his country pub.

The Ashes cricket legend’s boozer, the Tap and Run re-opened last June, after a devastating fire.

But diners have given mixed reviews, some criticising the food with one branding it as worse than Wetherspoons.

Others slammed the prices with an 8oz sirloin steak with dauphinoise potatoes and green beasts costing £32.95.

A double smash burger with fries is £16.50.

Another said the tables were too close together.

But some said they were happy with the grub and hailed the service.

But the only downside was not seeing the retired England bowler, one moaned.

Ex-cricketers turned commentators, David Gower and Jonathan Agnew have recently visited the pub in Upper Broughton, Notts.

But one customer, named Lynn, claimed: “This is a really nice venue, sadly the meal was poor.

“The beef was tough, vegetables were cold and the sticky toffee pudding was cold.”

Lynn, who visited in April this year, gave it a two out of five rating.

“There were 11 members in our party who all agreed this meal was poor and overpriced,” she added.

Another, named Jennifer, went last month and also gave it the same score on Tripadvisor.

She alleged: “Very disappointed.

“The tables and chairs are now very packed in.

“We waited 25 minutes to be asked for our order so my husband had to find someone to take our order.

“The food is vastly overpriced.”

A third gave it just one out of five and claimed: “The food was substandard and would have expected better at a Wetherspoons.

“Never mind paying those prices.

“Service was good and that was the only positive thing.”

Yet Keri Pearson loved her visit and gave it five out of five.

She said: “A really beautiful pub-pristine.

“Great service despite it being so busy.

“Good atmosphere and the food was amazing. I got a free bottle of prosecco as we spent the required amount and it was for my birthday.”

But she added: “Shame we didn’t get to see Stuart.”

Another – who also went in March – said: “Overall an excellent lunch.”

Broad, engaged to ex-Saturdays singer, Mollie King, quit cricket last July after taking 604 international Test wickets – the fifth-highest ever.

He has just opened his second pub called The Griffin Inn, 15 miles away in Swithland, Leics.

He owns the pubs with business partner and pal, Harry Gurney, as reported by Need To Know.

Broad was seen in an apron with a mop and bucket hours before it opened its doors.

The 37-year-old’s last match for England saw him take the wicket of Alex Carey to draw the Ashes series with Australia 2-2 at the Oval last summer.

He also hit a six with the last ball he faced with the bat – the first player ever to achieve that double feat.
