An AI-powered hair washing machine is taking over salons – and they promise to wet, wash and rinse your locks in just 13 minutes.
The shampooing craze is taking over the hair care industry. An innovative device can reportedly analyse its user’s scalp and select the right shampoo and wash method based on the person’s hair type, as reported by Need To Know.
The machines feature several built-in modes such as speed wash, normal, extra time, water shower, and three different scalp massage intensity settings.

Before washing a customer’s hair, the hairdresser checks the customer’s scalp health with an instrument.
The machine is then turned on and disinfected before each service.

The member of staff then prepares disposable towels and earplugs for the customer and adjusts the water temperature and pressure to their liking.
After selecting dry or oily scalp conditions, the system will automatically operate.
The intensity is divided into three levels: low, medium and high.
You can also choose long hair or short hair mode according to the customer’s length.

During the shampooing process, the machine uses multiple water outlets and infrared lamps to continuously adjust its position.
The whole process includes two shampoos, one hair care treatment and a total of seven rinses.
The device is also equipped with a massage bed function.
In normal mode, the entire shampooing process takes about 13 minutes.
After washing, customers are usually given the option to either blast their hair themselves or have a blow-dry.
However, it’s not all been plain sailing.
Despite their growing popularity, the AI-powered shampooing machines have been getting mixed reviews from users.
Some have complained that the scalp massage is too painful, while others have said they don’t do a very good job.
When the automated service was first launched in China, the price was usually around 9.9 yuan ($1.35) per wash.
Since becoming popular, it has almost doubled to 19 yuan ($2.60).
