A missing couple have been found dead in a motel hot tub after a suspected electrocution.
Jefferson Luiz Sagaz and Ana Carolina Silva spent Sunday (10 Aug) celebrating their daughter’s fourth birthday at a food park.
They dropped the little girl at Jefferson’s sister’s home before heading to a bar that night — the last time they were seen alive.

They were due to collect their daughter the following morning but never showed.
Alarmed relatives called police, who traced the couple’s movements to a motel off the BR-101 highway in São José, in Brazil’s Greater Florianópolis area.
Tragically, officers found them in an electrically heated bathtub — still switched on — in their room.
There were no signs of violence. Investigators say they may have been killed by a powerful electric shock, possibly from a short circuit, but have also raised the possibility of poisoning.
A post-mortem report is due within the next two weeks, as reported by Need To Know.

Jefferson was a Military Police corporal in Florianópolis, while Ana ran her own nail salon franchise.
The pair, both 37, lived in São José and had been together for nearly 20 years.
Ana’s cousin’s wife, Joice Martins Botelho, said: “She had the biggest heart, was a truly devoted mother, and an amazing daughter and sister — loving, caring, and determined.”

APRASC, the police association, described Jefferson as “well liked by everyone in the force”.
Ana was laid to rest in Florianópolis on Tuesday (12 Aug), while Jefferson’s funeral was held there the following day.
Lead investigator Felipe Simão told local media: “We’re treating it as a homicide, but we’re not ruling out an accident or suicide.”
