A socialite has reportedly died after undergoing a second Brazilian butt lift.
Elena Jessica Nkwopara underwent the procedure but began experiencing pain two days later.
But her condition failed to improve.
“Even with antibiotics, her condition kept getting worse,” her sister Nelli revealed in messages obtained by local media.
“Her white blood cell count continued to rise. Her buttocks, hips and calves became very swollen, tight, red and inflamed.
“The doctors assumed that too much fat had been injected, which might have disrupted proper blood flow.”
After the initial operation took place on 6 February, Elena underwent a corrective procedure in Lagos, Nigeria, on 13 February to remove most of the fat, as reported by Need To Know.

She was referred to a hospital on 19 February and transferred to another facility the next day.
Elena, whose age has not been reported, was diagnosed with sepsis and her blood levels fell to critical lows.
On 22 February, she underwent another procedure to remove “all the infected fat from her hips, buttocks and calves”.
Nelli revealed at the time: “She will need another surgery in a few weeks to close the large open wounds.
“Until then, she has to remain in intensive care because her wounds are open. We have used up all our money.”
On Saturday (7 Mar), Nelli revealed that Elena had died, accusing the plastic surgery clinic of killing her.

She claims the surgeon used “unsterilised tools” and failed to check up on Elena during her time in hospital.
“My sister deserved care, professionalism and safety,” she wrote. “Instead, we are left with pain, unanswered questions and a lifetime of grief.”
Responding to the allegations, the clinic said: “The patient had previously undergone a procedure elsewhere and sought a corrective procedure at our facility.
“We accepted her care, performed her corrective surgery and monitored her recovery with the diligence our clients deserve.
“However, at about two weeks post-operatively, a decision was reached to refer her for further care and, in strict adherence to our standard clinical protocols, the patient was referred to a foremost teaching hospital for further multidisciplinary evaluation and care.
“This is what any responsible medical facility would do and it’s not unusual.
“However, the patient was subsequently taken to a different facility, a decision made outside of our hospital three weeks ago.”
Nelli added: “Until the truth comes out, we will keep speaking.”
