A TikTok star who creates unique spins on British food classics has received mixed reactions over his latest concoction – a Yorkshire pudding pie.
Roland May, 43, a project manager from Buckinghamshire, regularly shares his delicious concoctions on TikTok, where he has 286,700 followers.
In his latest video, the dad-of-four has made the ultimate British classic mash-up.
Roland begins by filling a Yorkshire pudding with mash potato, which he smoothes out with a spoon.
He then adds pulled pork, before adding a perfectly round slice of cheese on top.
After adding another layer of pulled pork and cheese, he then adds egg wash to the rim of the pudding and places a pastry lid on top to seal all the delicious goodness in.
Another layer of egg wash is added, before placing the dish into the oven for 20 minutes.
Roland then reveals the golden-brown result and slices his concoction in half to show the gooey, delicious cross-section.
The video has racked up over 1.1 million views and 73,900 likes so far.
“It should be the pork shire pieding lol,” one viewer commented, followed by a laughing emoji. [sic]
“Yes mate that looks incredible,” another person commented.
One person said: “You need to make your own puds mate you can’t use ant Bessie’s up here,” followed by a laughing face emoji. [sic]
“Nah thats a Yorkshire lasagne pal,” one viewer added.
Others weren’t too impressed with the concoction, with one viewer commenting: “Straight to jail,” which Roland replied with two laughing face emojis.
Despite the mixed reaction, Roland believes that his dish tastes delicious.
“[It tasted] seriously good. I went for pulled pork as I had some leftover,” Roland told Jam Press.
“I did a Yorkshire toastie video, then suddenly thought that a yorkie would make a perfect pie base.
“Fill it and stick a pastry lid on it.
“The kids loved it.
“I checked through TikTok and couldn’t see that anybody else had done it.
“It got a really good response!”
Roland has also gone viral with his other Yorkshire pudding pie creations, such as the KFC Yorkshire pie, made with mash potato, popcorn chicken and KFC gravy.
Other indulgent recipes include ‘the best sandwich ever,’ which is made with two slices of garlic bread, brown sauce, bacon, burger patties, curly fries and mozzarella sticks – served with lashings of extra sauce.
