A “time capsule” house that has barely changed since the 1950s has hit the market – and it comes fitted with an avocado bathroom suite, retro furnishings and original appliances.
The three-bedroom property, in Philadelphia, US, has had the same owner for 63 years – who has kept the features of the home perfectly preserved during that time.
Now, the home is on the market for the first time at a price of £196,500 ($270,000 USD).
Inside, visitors are immediately transported back to a forgotten era of thick green carpets, wooden furniture with floral patterned fabrics, decadent light fixtures and a vintage television set in the lounge.
The room leads onto the dining area, fitted with a wooden table and chairs and towering cabinet for crockery.
The kitchen is another colour-bomb, with canary yellow tiles, orange wallpaper and rose cabinetry.
There’s even an old-fashioned stove and oven, as well as a peach landline phone fixed on the wall.
The previous owner decorated the space with doll figurines watching over the space from the cabinet tops.
Downstairs in the basement, wood-panelled walls and red fluffy carpets offer a cosy spot to relax. There’s another vintage television, as well as walls lined with records and a record player.
Meanwhile upstairs, the bedrooms are equally reminiscent of a forgotten era, with matching wooden furniture – including a large dresser – retro wallpaper and clashing prints.
The bathroom comes with a classic avocado suite of green bathtub, matching toilet and sink, paired with patterned tiled flooring.
“The property is still owned by the original owner from 1959 – everything has been wonderfully maintained,” Daniel Hoban, the estate agent presenting the property, told Jam Press.
The property is currently for sale with Keller Williams Philly for $270,000.
