Story from Jam Press (Placenta Smoothie) Pictured: A grab from a video posted by Desiree Van Nice showing her placenta being blended into a smoothie she created and consumed from her placenta. 'Cannibalism': Mum, 24, leaves Internet shocked sharing recipe for PLACENTA SMOOTHIE A woman has left the internet shocked after revealing how she ate her own placenta by blending it into a smoothie. Mum-of-one, Desiree Van Nice, 24, from Los Angeles, US, recently shared a TikTok of the moment she ate her own placenta back in 2020, following the birth of her daughter, Stella. She was inspired to eat her placenta after a family member did the same thing and claims that eating the smoothie has helped with her skin, hair and nails and overall left her "feeling great". In a TikTok, which has amassed over 111,000 views, she shows her recipe: a blend of mango, blueberries, peaches, pineapple and coconut milk. And, of course, her special ingredient: the placenta. Blending the mixture together, it takes a blood-looking shade, before the mum pours it into a glass. Desiree decided to share her experience in the hopes of normalising eating the organ after birth, taking to social media – but users have been left feeling queasy. "It was yum," Desiree, who is married to husband Matthew Del Valle, 32, captioned the post. One stunned user wrote: "Say it with me 'CANNIBALISM'." "There is no nutritional value to this, you are just eating it to eat it," added someone else. Desiree responded to this user by saying: "Everyone has their own opinion. "For me it helped A LOT. "When I don’t eat it for a day I can feel a huge different in my mood and the way I feel." Another viewer wrote: "if you actually think you’re benefitting from this it’s just the placebo effect" "Some things are okay to post, this is not," added someone else. Another user said: "I thought this was a joke." "Ohhh nooo you didn’t sis," wrote someone else. [sic] However, while she was happy with t

A woman has left the internet shocked after revealing how she ate her own placenta by blending it into a smoothie.

Mum-of-one, Desiree Van Nice, 24, from Los Angeles, US, recently shared a TikTok of the moment she ate her own placenta back in 2020, following the birth of her daughter, Stella.

“It was yum,” Desiree, who is married to husband Matthew Del Valle, 32, captioned the post.

One stunned user wrote: “Say it with me ‘CANNIBALISM’.”

“There is no nutritional value to this, you are just eating it to eat it,” added someone else.

Desiree responded to this user by saying: “Everyone has their own opinion.

“For me it helped A LOT.

“When I don’t eat it for a day I can feel a huge different in my mood and the way I feel.”

Another viewer wrote: “if you actually think you’re benefitting from this it’s just the placebo effect”

“Some things are okay to post, this is not,” added someone else.

Another user said: “I thought this was a joke.”

“Ohhh nooo you didn’t sis,” wrote someone else. [sic]

However, while she was happy with the effects, drinking the smoothie proved to be quite a struggle for the mum, who admits it was often “slimy” and “lumpy” in texture.

Desiree said: “It tasted like a smoothie and a slight iron taste.

“It wouldn’t fully blend, and would be chunky and not fit through the straw.

“Sometimes it could be slimy and lumpy.

“I think it’s important for women to look into different things when it comes to pregnancy instead of following what everyone else is doing.

“There [are] natural benefits everywhere and we might as well take advantage!”
