TikTok users have been left questioning their sanity and vision after a production designer gave an inside look at the hyper-realistic props used on movie sets – including the food. Elise Schatz, 22, works as a film director and helps with sets on shoots, and she has recently given an inside look at the bizarre props they use to make things look real on film – which have gone viral, attracting more than 30 million views. The Los Angeles-based TikToker shares videos with her 215,000 followers, showing how piles of food including cheeseburgers, chips, fried eggs, bread and fish have all been carefully created to look realistic. In the videos, she approaches the food, showing how detailed they are to convince the audience that they are perfectly normal, before squeezing them – revealing they are a rubbery texture, easily bending and springing back into place. As well as food, Elise also showed other props including a box full of ‘shards of glass’ – which are actually made of silicone. Another clip shows an axe, which is actually light weight – as Elise demonstrates on a colleague, tapping him on the head. Another popular video shows a glass which appears to be half full of wine – but as Elise pours it upside down, the liquid doesn’t move. Elise has been working in film production for the past three years – but still finds the props fascinating. “I have a deep admiration for all the ins and outs of the film industry, so sharing the behind the scenes only felt natural,” Elise told NeedToKnow.co.uk. “If I have this wonder about it all, someone else can too. “I’ll always be amazed by everything that goes on behind the scenes to make a movie. “The passion I have for this craft inspires me every da

“The passion I have for this craft inspires me every day to keep sharing my story as I achieve my dream of working as a film director.”

The most popular of her clips – showing the cheeseburgers – went viral, garnering 38 million views and three million likes on TikTok.

One person commented: “NOTHING I KNOW IS REAL.”

“Now I’m questioning all food I see in movies thanks a lot,” another user said.

Someone else commented: “This would upset me in ways I can’t explain but simply bc I’m a foodie.”

“That’s crazy,” added another viewer.

One person said: “I really thought it was a burger.”

“For a second I thought it was real,” agreed someone else.

“Food props are my fave. So cool,” said another fan.
