Story from Jam Press (Baby Giraffe Hunted) Pictured: Video grab - A baby giraffe attempts to take it's first steps, as a Hyena watches on. VIDEO: Incredible moment baby giraffe takes first steps but there's DANGER nearby – can YOU see it? Adorable footage shows a newborn giraffe taking its first steps – seemingly unaware of a hyena lurking in the shadows. In the video, the minutes-old calf can be seen attempting to find its legs moments after its mum gives birth. The mum, seemingly aware of the hyena that is hiding in a grassy patch just ahead, keeps a watchful eye on her child. The incredible footage was captured by professional photographer and lodge manager, Mark Nicholson, in the Zambezi National Park, Zambia. He later shared it to Instagram (@marknicholson83) with his 21,000 followers, where it has racked up 379,000 views and 12,000 likes. “The mom can be seen cleaning the afterbirth off her baby, such an incredible sighting to witness,” the 39-year-old told http://NeedToKnow.co.uk . “The hyena that you see sniffing around is not after the baby, it is hoping to get what is left of the afterbirth. “Mom did a great job of looking after her new youngster.” Social media users have been left mesmerised by the footage. “How gorgeous and adorable. Lovely moment captured,” said one viewer. “Be safe little one,” commented Christina. Alexander added “??Magnificent nature factual video. No crappy music, just the Giraffe, her baby, the birds tweeting, and the hyena. Keeping it real.” Sabrina wrote “Omg I didn’t see the hyena lay first lord please help this family of giraffes.” [sic] “Aaaaahhh sweet baby,” commented Gina.
