A woman has been savagely roasted by TikTokers after sharing footage of herself going up to a pod of around 60-80 dolphins while out at sea.

Grace Shugg was on a jet ski with her partner of almost seven years, Tom O’Keefe, when the duo stumbled across the mammals.

Stunned, the 22-year-old woman decided to jump in the water and was left “shaking” by the rare encounter.

While Grace may have had the moment of a lifetime, terrified viewers have come out in droves to warn against swimming with dolphins – with the video racking up 2m views and 290,000 likes.

“I was so excited to see so many dolphins in the water,” Grace told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“I felt that the only right thing to do in that moment was to jump in and swim with them. It was so exhilarating.

“I was shaking from the adrenaline of the experience and could barely pull myself back up on the JetSki.”

In the clip, Grace stands in shock as a pod of roughly 10 dolphins swim nearby, their dorsal fins visible above the water.

“I’m more scared of dolphins than sharks,” said one person. [sic]

“’There just dolphins” dolphins are ruthless,” added Cassie. [sic]

“People r so clueless on how strong dolphins are,” added someone else. [sic]

“The way I thought it was a Megladon,” said Lili. [sic]

“I would be terrified,” said Ruby.

“Bro you were in grave danger,” said another person.

“’Oh sharks! So cute!’ ‘Dolphins, run for your life’,” joked someone else.

“You’re probably more safe if it’s sharks than dolphins, dolphins have no chill,” added another person.

Others were left confused by the start of the footage, spotting a fin in the ocean and assuming the mammal was a shark – before the dolphins emerged.

Vicky said: “I thought they were sharks for a sec.”

Grace, who originally shot the footage back in April near Fingal Beach on the Gold Coast, Australia – but has since seen it go viral on TikTok – has been left shocked by people’s response to her video.

The influencer, who is from Queensland herself, said: “I didn’t know if the comments were being serious at first but after thousands of accounts commenting their fears about dolphins and how they can violate you/other marine life I was definitely shocked that they are considered bullies of the ocean.

“It has definitely given me a new caution about dolphins.

“I would still do it again however maybe with a little more distance next time.

“It however does not change the way I feel about the ocean, I love it and always have.”

Not everyone was opposed to a dolphin swim though with some users saying they are “harmless”, “fun” and “nice” most of the time.

“Why are yall beefing with dolphins so much???,” added Aghavni.
