Amazing shots show a greedy lion chomping down his food, snarling at anyone who dares interfere with his lunch.
Gnawing on a buffalo carcass, the hungry lion protects his dinner from the rest of the pack.
These incredible images were captured by lodge manager and photographer, Mark Nicholson in the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia, using a Canon R6 Mark II camera.
Taken from 20 meters away, the lion can be seen flattening its ears protectively against intruding visitors before continuing to chow down on his well-earned prize.

“To watch the power of these animals up close and personal is something to behold,” the 39-year-old from Zambia told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
“His brothers were close by, but this male would not allow them to feed while he was feeding, constantly growling at them making sure they don’t come close.
“Sharing is certainly not caring when it comes to lions.”

One image shows the defensive male chomping on a horn, always keeping an eye on his brothers as they attempt to muscle in on his meal.
Growing up to 419 pounds, the young male is already scarfing down his fill, eating up to 88 pounds in one sitting, around a quarter of his body weight, reports WWF.
