An abandoned church has been discovered full of forgotten charitable donations allegedly due to be sent to Ukraine.
Professional urban explorer Dave, known as Freaktography, was investigating the site when he came across hundreds of boxes marked with labels to be shipped to the war-torn country.
The items include everything from NFL jerseys to warm-up suits, alongside nappies, pyjamas and socks.
Sharing his find online, where he has 84,100 followers, he hopes to find the person responsible for the products so the items can be sent off to those in need.
“I have searched for anything online that would tell me who organized this and I have come up empty, I don’t know who owns or owned the building at this time,” Dave told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
“In other posts, people have commented that Ukraine is only accepting monetary donations and not clothing.
“Not one to do nothing when faced with something like this, I had some of these photos as well as the address and some further details sent to a few women’s shelters and homeless shelters in the area.
“My hope is that they know who owns this building or they can do the work to find them and get these items donated locally.”
Located in Ontario, Canada, the boxes were reportedly due to be shipped on 9 September 2022, according to the labels.
It is unclear why the items have since been abandoned.
Many of the clothes including branded items from NHL and NBA are still new in their original wrapping.
According to the British Red Cross, donations of clothing, food and medical supplies are not being accepted at this time due to the processing time involved in sorting these.
Dave added: “I am quite surprised that these items have been here since September and not donated to another cause.
“The people who donated these items spared no expense in their generosity.
“This, in my opinion, is a slap in the face to those who were kind enough to provide these items.”
The reason the church was abandoned is also unknown, leaving many to question why the donations were left behind.
Posting the discovery on Instagram, Dave quickly racked up 9,414 views with people hoping to spread the word about the forgotten items.
One person wrote: “Can’t wait to see your follow up video on how you had all this stuff saved and turned over to the right people to get to the right place !” [sic]
Another viewer said: “My sisters work collected donations for Ukraine also , when they were going to deliver the donations, they were turned away , they only want money.. they gave it all to homeless shelters.” [sic]
“Thats just sad. They should of sent that stuff before abandoning the church,” commented Kenia. [sic]
“This is so sad to see all these nice things go to waste..,” added Mason.
