Story from Jam Press (Boardmasters Friday) Pictured: Lorde. 50,000 festival-goers dance through Friday night at Boardmasters – featuring Lorde and Ben Howard Boardmasters Festival kicks off with a bang, including the musical stylings of Lorde, Ben Howard, and Cypress Hill. The Festival is an annual event held in Cornwall, combining live music with surfing and skateboarding competitions for an incredible five days. Beginning on the second weekend of August, the festival runs from Wednesday to Sunday, but it’s fair to say that Friday night was an absolute blast. Headlining the evening was Lorde, who treated fans to a solar-powered performance of her biggest hits during her Boardmasters debut, with an ethereal show of pop mastery. Ahead of Lorde, special guest Ben Howard took to the stage for a packed-out performance as the sun went down. At Land Of Saints, Cypress Hill headlined, dropping their most iconic tracks including the ultimate crowd pleaser ‘Insane In The Brain’. Throughout the day, other world-class artists provided glorious entertainment including Gabrielle Aplin, The Vaccines, SG Lewis, Warmduscher, Bob Vylan, with Unleashed hosting Example, Ben Nicky, Belters Only, and more. The Point brought banging beats and the best of house and electro music. Fans also gathered in droves to join the sixty-person Cornish Rock Choir at the famous Boardmasters ‘B’ for a sunset sing-along featuring bangers, karaoke classics… and even a conga line for good measure. Alongside the musical headliners, the opening rounds of the Reff Longboard Pro competition took place, running through to the quarterfinals before moving into the Animal Pro QS competition take place on the waves of Fistral Beach. The Green Team took to their daily beach cleans avidly, doing their bit alongside festival goers to make strong efforts towards its continued sustainability goals with beach cleans also taking place on Porth Beach, Watergate Bay, Great Western, and Fistral B

Festival-goers left the event late last night and will be heading home today after a weekend of fun, sun, and incredible sea views.
