A mansion believed to have belonged to an artist has been discovered abandoned – filled with beautiful paintings, murals and leftover furniture and personal items.
Yannik is an urban explorer who tours the world’s most bizarre and unique abandoned properties.
The business and economics student has travelled to the likes of France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, Slovenia and Egypt, to investigate buildings stuck in time and left to rot.
The 21-year-old explorer recently went viral after sharing a video of a mansion in rural France where it appears as if the owner simply up and left one day, leaving their belongings behind.
The TikTok (@urbexguide ) has over 64,000 views and 5,800 likes so far.
“I stumbled upon this amazing, abandoned artist mansion quite unexpectedly on the road to another place,” Yannick, who is from Germany, told http://NeedToKnow.co.uk
“So I parked my car and checked it out.
“The moment I saw the huge rooms and countless paintings adorning the walls and ceilings, I was truly surprised by the hidden gem I had discovered.
“As I delved into the history of the place, I learned that the mansion had been abandoned since 2004.
“It used to belong to a renowned artist who had a penchant for grandeur.
“The most fascinating discovery was a hidden diary, offering insights into the artist’s thoughts and inspirations.
“I would definitely go back to unravel more of its mysteries.
“These were the last traces of the inhabitant.
“I’m very sure the people that lived there, didn’t have the financial opportunities to renovate the mansion, because some parts of the home was halfway through renovation works.
“For me the highlight was the grand room with all the wall and ceiling paintings.
“You really could feel that here once lived an artist which had a sense to imagine and create such rooms.
“The enormity of the rooms and the intricate paintings adorning every surface immersed me in the artists creative journey.”
Yannick originally visited the home in June.
The video begins by showing the mansion’s exterior in a dark setting, surrounded by brambles and bushes.
Inside, clips show the home in various states of decay and a multitude of paintings and pictures – including stunning ceiling murals.
Clips then show the staircase and landing, covered in rubble and damaged, old furniture, as well as leftover wine glasses.
Yannik said: “It was an amazing feeling to walk through such a big palace.
“Big staircase, huge rooms with paintings everywhere, stepping inside the mansion felt like entering a different world.
“The atmosphere was a blend of artistic creativity and eerie abandonment.
“Despite the initial unease, I found myself captivated by the beauty of the artwork surrounding me.”
Social media users have been left stunned by Yannick’s video.
