A generous lottery winner has shared his surprise $500,000 (£398,480) win with employees at the shop where he purchased the ticket.
Daniel Reffit, from Kentucky, US, was stunned to win the huge windfall after purchasing a ticket at his local supermarket’s vending machine.
“I was reaching to press the button to buy the Fast Play ticket, then I thought, ‘Never mind,’ and bought the other ticket,” he told Kentucky Lottery.

Daniel instead purchased a Precious Metals Titanium Scratch-off ticket and, according to the lottery, the odds of winning anything on the game are 1 in 2.96, with most winners collecting prizes between $20-$100.
But, lucky Daniel went away $500,000 richer – and decided to share his newfound wealth by handing out $100 bills to shop employees.
$500,000 was the top prize in the lottery.
He added: “I saw a few guys sitting down and gave them $100 each and told them, ‘Merry Christmas’.”
Daniel’s wife dubbed him the “luckiest man in the world” after hearing the news.
He plans to pay off some of his bills with the winnings, and his supermarket – Meijer grocery store – will receive $5,000 for selling the winning ticket.
