A woman holding the Guinness World Record for world’s largest mouth has bagged a second title.
Sam Ramsdell, 33, has previously made headlines thanks to her eye-catching grin, with a mouth that can open to 2.56 inches (6.52 cm) – winning her the ‘Largest Mouth Gape’ in July 2019.
But she has recently been awarded a second title of ‘Widest Mouth’, with hers stretching to 4.07 inches (10.33 cm).
Despite proudly embracing her unique look now, Sam hasn’t always been so accepting.
“It’s so cool that something I’ve been self-conscious of and made fun of for my entire life has now become a super power for me,” Sam, from Maine, US, told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
“It feels amazing [to have a second world record].”
However, the reaction she gets online is a “mixed bag” – with trolls often targeting her.
Sam said: “Of course I get a lot of hate, and a lot of mean comments about my appearance [saying] I’m ugly, gross, scary.
“But I also get a lot of people that say it’s inspiring to see someone take something that might be seen as negative or unique about me and turn it into a positive.
“I hope it does motivate others to embrace what makes them special and not try to change it to fit in with societal norms.”
Sam, who has 3.8 million followers on TikTok (@samramsdell5 ), announced the second record on social media after it was awarded this summer.
In a video that garnered 4.5 million views and 178,000 likes, she says: “So I actually have two Guinness World Records now.
“I have the Guinness World Record for largest mouth gape for a female, and then I also have officially the widest mouth in the world.”
