A doctor who graduated from Harvard university has gone viral after sharing a popular food item that he clams can “destroy” the digestive system.

Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist, shares his experience and knowledge with his 300,000 followers on TikTok, (@doctorsethimd ).

In one clip, which has racked up 2.3 million views and over 60,000 likes, the 41-year-old reveals a shocking cupboard staple that can impact your body with shocking results.

He begins with a firm warning: “Stop eating instant noodles.”

The doctor says that findings from research conducted at Harvard University showed that the popular snack can take over two hours to digest due to artificial preservatives.

Dr Sethi, from California, US, explains that a camera the size of a pill was taken in a bid to capture the effect the dish has on our stomachs.

He continues: “Fresh homemade ramen noodles got instantly digested in just one to two hours – but the instant noodles were mostly intact and undigested in the stomach over two hours later.

“These [preservatives] destroy the good gut bacteria [and] your brain thinks that you need to eat more food to grow the good bacteria.

“It stimulates the hunger hormone, ghrelin, leading to overeating and obesity.”

Users have flocked to the comments to share their reactions, with many viewers unwilling to give up their favourite dish.

Another person added: “We’re here for a good time not a long time doc.” [sic]

“Me watching while eating my instant noodles,” commented someone else.

Christine added: “How dare you. Leave me and my noodles alone.” [sic]
