Two boys – one aged just 14 – have been arrested after a fire extinguisher was lobbed at a man in a JD Sports shop.

The young teen and another aged 16 were nicked by cops on suspicion of affray.

Three boys and a man were injured and treated at the shopping mall for minor injuries.

The red extinguisher hit the man and a loud thud was heard.

One onlooker said: “Oh my God.”

Other Christmas shoppers could be heard gasping.

A yob – wearing a black hoodie, tracksuit bottoms, white socks and slider flip flops – then picked up another one.

But he smashed the glass security barrier with the second extinguisher.

A security guard then ran out and tried to stop him.

He shouted: “What you doing?”

Blood could be seen on the ground in the shop.

Sportswear was also left strewn over the floor in the branch in Churchill Square shopping centre, in Brighton, East Sussex.

A mannequin was seen knocked over in the window display.

Cops were called at 3pm on 14 December.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Police have made two arrests following an altercation in Brighton.

“Officers were called to the incident at a shop in Churchill Square at around 3pm on Thursday (14 Dec).

“Three boys and a man were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

“Following enquiries, a 14-year-old boy from Telscombe Cliffs and a 16-year-old boy from Eastbourne have been arrested on suspicion of affray.

“Enquiries are ongoing in locating other parties involved.

“Following the incident, there was an increased police presence in the area to ensure the safety of the public, with a continued visibility to provide further reassurance.”

The two boys have now been “bailed pending further enquiries.”

Ch Insp Andrew Saville said: “Violence and anti-social behaviour such as this is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

A spokesperson for JD Group said: “The safety and security of our colleagues and customers is our highest priority as a business.

“We do not condone threatening, violent and abusive behaviour in any shape or form, and take any incidences extremely seriously.”
