Comic Rob Beckett didn’t see the funny side of it after his wife spent £245 on a “disgusting” dog ornament for their house.
The 38-year-old funnyman couldn’t hide his horror when his spouse Louise Watts arrived home with a porcelain statue of a whippet.
The pair had previously discussed the antique 1930s statue dog – called George – but Beckett hated it.

But Lousie – wed to him for nine years – went behind his back and bought it and even put it on the joint account.
She bought it from Clarks Furniture, in the aptly named Petts Wood, south London.
After arriving home from her solo shopping run, Rob couldn’t help but inspect what she had bought.
Discovering the whippet wrapped in bubble wrap in the boot.
Not wanting to reveal the price of what she paid to her partner Louise did not let the amount slip.
But it was found for sale online at the shop for £245.
Beckett said: “When your wife goes shopping on her own.
“What’s in the boot?
“It’s that disgusting fcking whippet bstard.
“It’s not an antique, why have you got it?
“I think he’s disgusting, he’s got a chipped head.”
Speaking to the whippet Rob stated: “You’re a lucky little f*cker you know that?
“You’re lucky she saw you, because nobody, nobody was going to buy you.”
The whippet has now got its own place in their home, guarding the living room.
Fans were split on the dog, as reported on Need To Know.
Ashley James said: “Oh dear lord, even Battersea would reject him”
Lauren Hayward said: “But I need to know how much Lou paid now.”
Jessica McBride added: “It looks malnourished.”
Becks Wood said: “Lou is a legend for buying that…I mean it’s awful but amazing content.”
A Clarks Furniture spokesperson said: “Hi my name is George.
“I have been around for a very long time and I am looking for a forever home.
“I was born in the 1930s and have some tales to tell.
“If you would like to give me a home, pop down to Clarks Furniture in Petts Wood and say hello.”
