In October last year, doctors informed him that the cancer was spreading and they would have to start a more aggressive chemo treatment.

The youngster told his parents that he wouldn’t be able to handle it as it was “too painful”, and asked them to accept that he wanted to live the rest of his life in peace.
Knowing his time was limited, he told his parents that his only wish was to have a birthday party as he’d never really had one.
The brave lad’s story went viral on social media and the local community came together for his 14th birthday on 27 February.
José was treated to a big bash with clowns, magicians, and hundreds of attendees.

Following the party, his favourite Mexican football team Cruz Azul got in touch to invite him to watch a match in the directors’ box.
Sadly, José’s condition worsened and he never got the opportunity to take up the club’s offer.
Last week, he was admitted to the State Cancer Center in Xalapa, located east of Mexico City, where he passed away on Tuesday (23 Apr) morning.

José’s body was buried on his family’s private property the following day, as reported by Need to Know.
His white coffin was adorned with an autographed Cruz Azul shirt, family photographs, toys, candles, and flowers.
