An animal chiropractor has revealed the unique day-to-day of his “amazing” job.
Dr Joren Michael Whitley, 34, treats creatures great and small – from baby kittens to giraffes – with a type of spinal manipulation.
Getting up close and personal with his furry friends, Dr Whitely uses his hands to examine and treat health conditions related to bones, muscles and joints.

“I love my job,” the 34-year-old told Need To Know.

“I have such a passion for what I do and truly just want to spread the incredible miracles that the work of chiropractic can do for everyone and every animal.”
Dr Whitley says while the basic practice is the same with humans as it is for animals, the anatomy is obviously different and the force used can vary.
After uploading a video to his Instagram page, followers were able to watch as the passionate animal expert manipulated a giraffe’s neck.
In the clip, Dr Whitley can be seen stood on a high terrace as the African mammal pops his head over the railing.
He then holds the animal’s head as he says: “His jaw was not moving to the left and his upper neck on the right hand side is irritated.”
The doctor then gets his hands in position before pushing the mammal’s head back and shaking it side to side.
A small pop can be heard. As he releases his hands and strokes the giraffes head, he says: “Now that’s moving great.”
Dr Whitley, from Oklahoma, US, said he is always looking for the next animal that could benefit from chiropractic work.

He added: “There are of course safety measures I have to take with the larger animals that I don’t with a kitten.
“I have not worked on an elephant or a whale yet but I know with my passion it will happen in the future.
“Every day animals leave our office having a better quality of life.”
Dr Whitley’s post was captioned: “A simple adjustment on this giraffe to get his jaw moving the right way,” and has gathered over 219,000 views, as well as 10,000 likes and hundreds of comments from fans.
