The remaining pair were left suspended in the air as people nearby ran towards their fallen colleagues.
They were given first aid at the scene in Xiamen, China, before being rushed to hospital, as reported on Need to Know.
One was pronounced dead from head trauma on arrival, while the other two were treated for unspecified injuries.
Local media did not reveal her name, but witnesses said the troupe all appeared to be in their teens.
They added that they had not been fitted with safety equipment and complained that there were no safety mats on the stage.
The accident on 26 April is reportedly under investigation.
Local media say the circus suspended its shows immediately after the incident, but it has since resumed ticket sales.
