Doctors have been left shocked after finding an unusual object in a man’s stomach that he didn’t even know he’d swallowed.

The 67-year-old patient, under hospital care for conditions including back and hip pain, was having difficulty swallowing.

Finally, after three years, he was referred for an X-ray that revealed a nasty surprise.

The discovery baffled medical professionals, who were forced to act and remove the object.

Two years earlier, docs had conducted an X-ray related to the man’s hip and back pain, but it was the new probe that unveiled the glowing surprise.

Due to its position, the battery was too large for the man to pass forcing docs to intervene.

Even before the baffling discovery, the 67-year-old had countless health concerns, including dementia and arthritis.

He was a smoker for 40 years and had been taking opioids for 30 years.

Due to chronic illness, he was found to have a weak body but was said not to be in a distressed state, and had lost over two stones (13kg).

After docs stepped in to remove the battery, the man’s difficulty swallowing was fixed and he was said to have no stomach pain.
