In October of that year, she went public with the diagnosis on her TV programme, ¡Qué Chulada!
She said: “More than a month ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and today I’ve decided to open up about it here with you.
“It’s been a very intense journey for me and especially for the people around me.”
Toussaint revealed in October last year that she had undergone her last radiation therapy session.
She thanked her medics and expressed her joy at finishing the treatment, saying: “The last one, dammit!”
But her cancer was not completely eradicated as hoped.
At the time of her passing last Thursday (16 May), she had been battling the disease for shy of four years, as reported on Need To Know.
Toussaint, of Mexico City, Mexico, appeared in numerous TV programmes and films, including ‘Polar Bear’ (2017), ‘Amor Xtremo’ (2006), and ‘Trece Miedos’ (2007).
She also acted in several theatre productions, worked as a voice actress, and even forayed into stand-up comedy.
She used her platform to promote feminist causes, such as gender equality and women’s rights.
She boasted more than 3m followers across social media platforms.
They have been expressing their shock at her passing and posting condolence messages.
