A teenager with a tummy ache went to hospital only for doctors to find she had an almost 8lb hairball in her stomach.
The mass weighed the same amount as a domestic cat.
The 17-year-old was admitted to the A&E with severe abdominal pain and vomiting.
After painkillers failed to help her, staff gave her various tests in a bid to solve the mystery.

They were stunned when an ultrasound revealed she had a trichobezoar made up of hair and food debris in her stomach.
The medics scheduled her for immediate surgery.
The gruelling op lasted about four hours, according to officials.
But the surgical team led by Dr Frank Irigoyen MartÃnez managed to remove the mass without complications.
It weighed a whopping 7 lb 11 oz (3.5kg), as reported on Need To Know.
Once stabilised, the patient was discharged from the hospital in Juliaca, Peru.
She will continue receiving home treatment.
Experts say she may suffer from trichotillomania -hair pulling disorder – and trichophagia aka hair eating syndrome.
The mental health conditions are often associated with anxiety or OCD.
Pet moggies on average weigh between 8lb (3.6kg) and 12lb (4.3kg).
