However, both motorcycle and rider are knocked to the tarmac in the struggle.
Moments later, a passer-by spots what’s going on and decides to intervene.
The have-a-go hero sends a flying kick to one of the would-be thieves, who then limps away, before knocking the second to the ground with another powerful kick.
Floored on the tarmac the mugger is then clattered by a succession of boots to his helmet.
As he picks himself up, he’s struck by another flying kick.
Police in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, later revealed that the 27-year-old woman had sustained cuts and scrapes to her face and knee in the tussle.
The good Samaritan who helped her had not been identified at the time of reporting.
The crooked duo took a battering and left the scene empty-handed, as reported on Need To Know.
Despite this, they reportedly tried to mug another woman in a different neighbourhood about 15 minutes later.
However, she managed to run away and call for help, prompting the hapless pair to flee empty-handed a second time.
The police are now trying to work out who they are.
They have advised members of the public not to put up a fight when being mugged.
