Eighteen days after Jay Slater went missing in Tenerife, his friend Lucy Mae Law shared a new photo of him on Instagram, expressing her distress with a crying emoji.
Lucy was the last person to speak with Jay on June 17 and has been searching for him ever since. The two had flown to the island together for the NRG music festival, but Jay vanished the next morning in the Rural de Teno park after a night out.
Jay, an apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire, called Lucy that morning, saying he was “lost in the middle of nowhere” after attempting to walk back to his remote Airbnb.

A large-scale search involving police, mountain rescue, drones, and sniffer dogs was launched but called off recently, devastating his family.
Lucy has found Jay’s disappearance “weird” and “suspicious.” She set up a GoFundMe to support his family, who are also in Tenerife.
Jay’s parents, Debbie and Warren, along with his brother Zak, continue to search the area. Warren expressed frustration with the police response, feeling that not enough has been done.
Experts believe Jay might still be alive in the mountains, surviving on plants and rainwater. Despite the official search being called off, the investigation remains open to new developments.
