The family’s car slammed into another vehicle coming from the opposite direction of the highway on Sunday (7 July).
The fire department and highway police were called to the scene, but when they arrived, Beatriz and David were dead.
Images show how both cars sustained heavy damage in the crash.
The family was headed to a theme park to celebrate Beatriz’s cancer recovery.
The 33-year-old had undergone her final radiotherapy session on 11 June.
She had written on social media at the time: “Today I finish another stage of treatment. Fifteen radiotherapy sessions!
“I can’t write anything else, I just feel grateful.”
Deivid, 36, and Diogo, 16, were taken to a local hospital in Lages, Brazil, where they both underwent surgery.
At the time of reporting, both are still hospitalised but in non-life-threatening condition.
The emergency services have appealed for blood donations from the public because their blood types are in low supply.
A 31-year-old policeman was driving the other car and his 61-year-old mum was a passenger.
She was knocked unconscious by the crash and both were taken to hospital with multiple injuries.
Beatriz and David were laid to rest in Lages on Monday (8 July), as reported on Need To Know.
The cause of the crash has not been disclosed.
