She told her she had met a friend and needed to take care of something in another part of the city.
Since then, her family has been trying to call her, but her mobile phone is switched off.
Monteiro works as a waitress at some clubs in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
She lives in the city with her mother, her grandmother, and her three children, the youngest of whom is eight months old.
One of her colleagues had been to her home several times looking for her.
He had told her family he was brokering some freelance work for her, as reported on Need To Know.
The man, whose identity is withheld, works as a caretaker at a sports club and lives onsite.
Monteiro’s family went there over the weekend, accompanied by the police.
In his room, knickers, condoms, and medications were found.
Monteiro’s mother, Janaína, said the place was empty and it looked like he had left in a hurry.
His colleagues reportedly describe him as quiet and mysterious.
His whereabouts are unknown.
Monteiro’s family believes she may have been ambushed en route to her destination.
The police are investigating the case and have asked anyone with any information about her whereabouts to get in touch.
