A patriotic woman ended up with a St George’s Cross sunburn on her face after an unfortunate mishap during Euro 2024.
Kalyne Fletcher decided to show her support for the Three Lions by painting the English flag over her makeup before the final match between England and Spain.
However, later that night, she realized the cross wouldn’t come off when she tried to remove it.
It turned out, it wasn’t the paint being stubborn.
Kalyne, from Ipswich, shared with Need To Know: “Everyone is dealing with their own struggles. With things as silly as this, you just have to laugh, it could always be worse.”

The 24-year-old continued, “Initially, I thought the pigment had stained my face, but as we know now, that wasn’t the case.
On the day of the Euros, I thought it would be fun and entertaining for the family. I’m always trying to do something quirky to make them smile. This incident definitely made them laugh.”
She explained, “I had a red cross over my regular makeup, and thankfully my normal makeup had SPF. A lesson to learn is that even on cloudy days, the sun’s UV rays are still there.
My mum found it hilarious. I’m always trying to make others laugh, which is why I posted it on social media. My friends and many others have had a good laugh in the comments, which I think people needed after the disappointment of the match.
I think the lads should be proud of themselves despite the loss. Of course, I would’ve loved to see them win, but it was great to see them get so far in the competition. They bring the whole nation together, which is what I enjoy the most.”
Gareth Southgate’s team lost the final on Sunday, July 14, with a score of 2-1.
