An angry man hurled a chair at check-in officers because he was furious that his flight had been cancelled.
Airport CCTV footage shows how the plastic stool flew through the air in an arc and hit one of three officers behind the counter.
The incident happened on Saturday (27 Jul) following numerous flight cancellations due to Typhoon Gaemi since Friday (26 Jul).
The angry traveller picked up the chair and lobbed it at the staff members after waiting for ages for a plane seat.
The check-in officer hit by the chair sustained a hand injury, according to reports.
Police officers arrived on the scene and subdued the frustrated traveller, surnamed Yang.
They took him in for questioning, as reported on Need To Know.
The baffling incident happened in Taiwan’s Kinmen Airport, where the 70-year-old suspect was waiting for a replacement flight back to the main island.
The adverse weather caused so many flight cancellations at Kinmen Airport that the military had to dispatch 14 aircraft to get people home.
More than 2,000 passengers had to wait patiently, in some cases for days, to be allocated seats on the replacement flights.
Mr Yang is accused of violating the Civil Aviation Law and of causing injury.
He will be dealt with according to the law.
UNI Air said on Sunday (28 Jul): “Any behaviour that endangers employee and operational safety will never be tolerated.”
