It looks over the edge before deciding to risk the jump.
After landing on the ground far below, the poor pooch is heard squealing in pain after apparently suffering serious injuries.
In the next ski lift, two canines on leads are seen with a man, reportedly the injured dog’s owner.
The incident was filmed at the Polana Szymoszkowa Ski Resort in the southern Polish town of Zakopane.
Witnesses saw the dog jump from the ski lift during one of the last runs on Saturday (27 Jul), as reported by Need To Know.
They said the animal was alone in the gondola while its owner was travelling with two other dogs in the next one.
They said the dog was placed in the lift with no safety measures, adding: “He was alone, he must have been young, a Tatra Shepherd dog.
“At our height, when we passed each other, he jumped out.”
After it leaped to the ground below, the witness said: “All we heard was yelping and howling.
“I don’t know if he survived.”
Ski resort rules state that all dogs should be kept on a lead, wear a muzzle, and be accompanied by an adult at all times.
In addition, animals are not allowed on the resort’s chairlifts and ski slopes under any conditions.
The incident was reported to the police who have confirmed they are investigating.
It’s currently unclear what happened to the dog after jumping from the lift.
