A dog and her four puppies have been saved – after being trapped in a park fire for three days.
The Rottweiler mum and her brood had been stuck in a car left behind amidst a raging park fire in California, US.
Residents in Cohasset were forced to evacuate last week (24 July), and one person’s truck broke down – forcing them to ditch it, with their two adult dogs and the dogs’ puppies still inside.

The owner reported it immediately to firefighters and other authorities, first responders couldn’t gain access to the area immediately due to the intensity of the wildlife.
Three days later, on Saturday (28 July), Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Search and Rescue officer Trevor Skaggs and a helicopter pilot flew into the area to search for the pets, reports Need To Know.
Skaggs landed a mile and a half from the truck’s Location and made his way to the vehicle.
While the adult male didn’t survive, the mum and her pups were found safely – albeit tired and thirsty.
A spokesperson for the BCSO said: “After giving the mother and her puppies water and bites from his protein bar, Trevor was able to get the five of them to follow him 1.5 miles back to the helicopter.
“The puppies and their mother were then flown to the Chico Airport and are now being cared for by members of the North Valley Animal Disaster Group.
“It’s been a horrific few days for our community and we are grateful to be able to share this amazing story.”
