A woman has beat out thousands of other Brits to win the trip of a lifetime after experiencing a horrifying cancer scare.

Brenda Muirhead hasn’t been on holiday in five years.

The 56-year-old from Fife, Scotland, received awful news from doctors last year, after they found signs of cancer during a routine mammogram.

Brenda has since been forced to have surgery and radiotherapy, and is on medication for the next five years.

But she feels lucky enough to have caught it early and the idea of a holiday “kept her going when she was struggling”.

Brenda entered a raffle for a trip to Jamaica that is worth over £2,500.

She purchased a single ticket from Raffolux, a digital raffle platform, at £1.99.

“I entered the holiday raffle as we needed some positivity,” Brenda, from Fife, Scotland, told Need To Know.

“I knew that my family could never afford a holiday like that, especially as I’m no longer able to work.

“It sounded amazing and I just thought to myself ‘You never know’”.

Brenda was shocked when she woke up at 2am to the ping of a notification that announced she was the winner.

Brenda said: “The holiday to Jamaica really kept me going when I was struggling.

“I woke up at 2am to the winner’s notification and couldn’t get back to sleep!”

Brenda was also diagnosed with MS 19 years ago, which has left her with very low mobility.

As a result, she has not been on holiday since 2019.

Thankfully, she was able to take a mobility scooter with her to Jamaica, which she found made anything possible.

As well as her dream holiday, Brenda has also won other fantastic prizes with Raffolux including a Lay-Z-Spa, a trip to Dublin and £1,000 in cash.

Brenda has chosen to donate to Alzheimer’s when playing after her uncle suffered from the disease, as well as other loved ones.

She added: “It’s even better knowing that the money is being given to charity.”

Raffolux was launched in 2019 and has handed out over £17 million worth of prizes.
