A cop was forced to shoot a pit bull in front of a shocked crowd of onlookers after it latched onto his colleague’s hand.
The police went to the scene to deal with a report of an alleged domestic fight between a woman and her brother.
According to the authorities, the 39-year-old man tried to intimidate the officers with a knife before setting the pit bull on them.

The animal obeyed his command and pounced on one of the cops.
In the police video, the stocky canine is seen latching onto the cop’s wrist area.
The officer grimaces in pain as he tries to get the dog off his arm.
He ends up wrestling with the pit bull on the ground as his colleague calls out to the woman to ask her permission to kill the dog.
He says: “Woman, do you give me permission to shoot it?”
She apparently nods her head and the officer turns to deal with the aggressive animal.
He fires a single shot as the pit bull dangles from the cop’s arm.
The canine falls to the ground as blood starts to pour from its head.
The dramatic scenes were filmed in Manizales located south of Medellín in Colombia.
A police spokesperson said: “On 13 September 2024, at approximately 12.30pm, uniformed officers of the Immediate Attention Command (CAI) of San Sebastián were informed of a fight on Route 1 and 48 Street.
“Upon arrival at the scene, a citizen told them that her brother was very aggressive and trying to attack her.
“It is worth nothing that the officer, upon seeing the canine attacking his colleague, exhausted all means to separate them.
“In order to prevent an unfortunate situation, considering there was a 14-month-old baby at the scene, he drew his firearm and shot the canine as a last resort because it would not let go of the officer’s hand.
“This was carried out in accordance with articles 166 and 167 of law 1801 from 2016 and resolution 02903 of 2017 on the use of force and employment of firearms.”
They added: “It should be noted that the officer who was injured was granted five days of disability leave after receiving medical attention.”
Meanwhile, the man who encouraged the dog to attack the cops was placed under arrest.
The police also said that they had to detain two minors for obstructing the officers.
The woman who called the police was also injured by the pit bull, as reported by Need To Know.
The investigation continues.
