Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, has landed an exciting new role, staying close to the Indiana Fever star as he takes on a coaching position at Butler University.
McCaffery, who served as the basketball development coordinator for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers last season, was officially announced as Butler’s newest assistant coach on Monday.
The move keeps him in Indianapolis, where both Butler University and the Indiana Fever are based, allowing the couple to remain close.

The announcement was made through the school’s social media channels, and Clark wasted no time sharing the news on her Instagram story, expressing her excitement with a heartwarming message that read, “yayy! so happy for you,” accompanied by a white heart emoji and a tag for McCaffery.

McCaffery, a former standout college player, gained a reputation for his tough, gritty style during his time at the University of Iowa, where he appeared in 166 games.
He’s also no stranger to basketball coaching; as the son of Iowa’s longtime men’s basketball coach, Fran McCaffery, and brother to Patrick McCaffery, who is now spending his final season at Butler after also playing at Iowa.
Butler’s head coach, Thad Matta, praised McCaffery in a statement, highlighting the valuable experience he gained working with the Pacers’ staff.
Matta noted that McCaffery’s basketball pedigree and experience would make a strong impact on the Butler program, both immediately and in the long term.
McCaffery and Clark, who met while both attending and playing basketball at the University of Iowa, have been dating since April of last year.

Meanwhile, Clark has been on an impressive run in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever, averaging 24.3 points and 8.9 assists in the 13 games since the league resumed after the Olympics break.
Her standout performances have helped secure the Fever a playoff spot.
While Butler has not made it to the NCAA tournament since 2018, the program remains a fan favorite, thanks to their back-to-back national championship appearances in 2010 and 2011.
With McCaffery now on board, the team hopes to regain some of that magic.
