Mr. Kittipong Kittikachorn, director of Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, said the Airports of Thailand company (AOT) was informed of the threat at 2.18pm yesterday (26 Sept)
He said the plane was carrying 121 people at the time, including one infant and six crew members.
The authorities decided to initiate emergency protocols related to bomb threats and coordinated with the relevant agencies to deal with the matter.
After landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the plane went to the far side of the runway and immediately evacuated everyone on board.
Passengers were then taken to the AOT Fire and Rescue Station to await further instruction.
Officials carried out body searches and inspected the passengers’ hand luggage as bomb experts checked the suitcases in the plane’s hold.
After carrying out a thorough inspection of the aircraft, officials announced that they did not find any suspicious devices on board and cancelled the response plan at 4.31pm.
The passengers were then allowed to enter the terminal building to undergo the normal arrivals process.
A Polish woman was arrested for making the bomb threat in mid-air, as reported by Need To Know.
She could face between five and 15 years in prison if convicted of causing danger to the safety of other passengers, according to AOT.
The investigation continues.
VietJet Air has been approached for comment.
