There is nothing quite like experiencing a far flung destination on a vacation. You get the chance to experience completely new cultures, new food and drink and find new people to make friends with. You can see a life completely unlike the one you’ve left back home and have different weather and memories to be made. The only caveat to going further is that you often have a long flight to get you there. Whether you like flying or don’t, long flights can be tedious and dull and you’ll want to find some ways to occult yourself. In this article we take a look at some top tips to keep you occupied on a long flight. Keep on reading to find out more.

Bring some activity books to keep you entertained

When it comes to keeping yourself entertained on a long flight, you should look into bringing activity books with you. From a crossword to an adult colouring book, these are a great option for getting away from a screen and giving you plenty to keep you entertained. There are many of these on the market that you can enjoy and they’re reasonably priced too! Just don’t forget to bring a pen and some pencils with you otherwise you won’t be able to use them!

Bring a portable games device

While the films on a plane are good, sometimes they’re just not enough. Bringing a portable games device is a fun way to immerse yourself more and keep you entertained on a flight. If you have a device such as a Nintendo Switch or a SONY playstation portable games device, these can be played when you’re up in the air. Just make sure you charge it fully before you fly and have any external content downloaded so your gameplay isn’t disrupted.

Bring the necessary things to help you sleep

Sleep is a great way to keep you occupied, but let’s face it, doing so on a plane isn’t the easiest. Bring things such as a blanket, a good flight pillow and some herbal sleeping tablets if you find you really struggle to fall asleep naturally. You could put some meditation or relaxing songs on your phone which you can listen to and it can help you drop off.

These are just a few top tips to keep you occupied on a long flight and ensure you don’t get too bored. While there isn’t much you can do to make the flight completely bore-free, you can make it more manageable. No matter how dull the flight is, just keep in mind that the upcoming destination is so worth it and you will forget the long journey once you’re sunning yourself on sunnier climes or relaxing in a hot spring on a mountain. What are some top tips you have for keeping yourself occupied on a long flight? Let us know in the comments below, we’d love to hear from you.
