A dressed-up dog forced to beg for money in the street has been rescued by locals.

The pooch looked forlorn as it sat on a rain-soaked street.

It was dressed in a jacket, hat, and sunglasses as it hunkered down behind a donation box.

But a group of Good Samaritans untied the hat from around its neck.

One could be heard saying “Take a look at this.”

He pointed to a nasty-looking wound on the dog’s throat.

Another was heard declaring “A dog isn’t a money-making tool.”

The upsetting scenes were filmed in central Bogotá, Colombia, on Tuesday (8 October).

The volunteers who came to the dog’s aid are reportedly from the animal welfare group Huella Animalista.

The pooch was taken for a veterinary check-up, as reported by Need To Know.

It was found to be malnourished and further wounds were detected.

Once better, the dog will reportedly go to an animal facility or be put up for adoption.

Daniel said: “A little tough love was needed for the abuser who doesn’t want to work.”

Ale wrote: “I hope he gets a harsh punishment.”
