The plane was then left stationary on the tarmac as thick smoke continued to billow from it.
The scary scenes were filmed at El Prat Airport in Barcelona, Spain, on the afternoon of Friday (Nov 8).
The Vueling plane was supposed to cover the Barcelona to Granada internal route but encountered a technical fault on takeoff.
As a result, the passengers were evacuated from the plane and taken to the terminal building.
The aircraft was inspected by engineers, but it was decided to take it out of action after the alleged fire.
The affected passengers took a replacement flight to their destination at around 8.45pm that evening, as reported by Need To Know.
A Vueling spokesperson confirmed that the plane encountered a technical problem on the runway.
But they did not provide any further details as to the cause of the issue.
No one was reported as injured and everyone made it to Granada without further incident.
An investigation into the cause of the engine blaze is ongoing.
