A fitness buff following a strict diet pulled out of her friend’s wedding as she “wasn’t allowed” to bring her own meals.
When Tiele Azambuja’s longtime best friend asked for her to be a bridesmaid, she eagerly accepted the role.
But the fitness model had one condition: to bring her own food along.
Dedicated to her strict lifestyle and diet, it was non-negotiable for the 29-year-old.
And so, when her best friend said she “wasn’t allowed”, she ultimately declined attending her special day and being up front at the altar.
“I take my lifestyle very seriously,” Tiele, who boasts 8,172 followers on Instagram (@tiele.azambuja), told Need To Know.
“Discipline is essential for the results I aim for, and I knew that on the wedding day, with so many dishes full of sugar and carbs, my meal prep would be essential.
“She argued that the entire ceremony would last almost 12 hours and since I eat every three hours, it didn’t make sense to me not to bring my meals.
“Skipping my diet wasn’t an option, even though I had already bought the dress.
“If I couldn’t bring my meals, I wouldn’t attend the wedding.”
The Miss BumBum 2024 runner up, with 100cm of bottom, said that the request led to a disagreement between them both.
The bride allegedly felt that the focus should be on the newlywed celebration and that Tiele’s meal prep would only distract guests.
But the influencer disagreed, saying that she deserved to be able to maintain her routine.
She said: “I understand it’s her day, but I also need to take care of my body and health.
“I can’t just step out of my diet overnight, especially not on such an important occasion.
“It wasn’t easy to make this decision, because I knew how special this moment is for her.
“But I couldn’t go against everything I’ve built over the years for the sake of one day.”
Although upset, her friend accepted the withdrawal as bridesmaid from Tiele as she understood it was a personal choice.
And despite the difficulty of it all, the model believes it was the right thing to do.
She added: “It was a hard choice, but I know what I did was right for me.
“Maintaining discipline and consistency is a principle I apply to every aspect of my life.
“By making this choice, I believe I honored that part of myself.”
