At least thirty people including women and children were injured after an explosion at an annual flaming torch parade.
The horror happened at the end of the procession attended by hundreds of people.
The fire broke out after some of the torches fell on the ground where the liquid used for ignition was kept.
It happened in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, India.
Horror footage show the crowd fleeing for their lives as the fireball engulfed the mass of people.
Manoj Kumar Rai, the Superintendent of Police for Khandwa District, said it came as the procession was ending near the city’s Clow Tower.
Rai said 30 people were taken to the district hospital including women and children as reported by Need To Know.
Following initial treatment 18 were discharged and sent home while the remaining 12 received medical care and were said to be in a stable condition.
The torch parade is an annual event held to commemorate the three individuals who were tragically murdered on in 2009.
They were killed by members of the outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India including police officer Sitaram Batham.
Additionally, tributes were paid to the victims of the 2011 Mumbai terror attack.
