The 24-year-old spent five days in intensive care after suffering multiple wounds to her head, face and hands.
When she eventually came around, the first thing she did was ask about the welfare of her seven-year-old son and daughter, six.
Castañeda arranged to meet Laura under the pretext that he was going to give her some child support money.
He was with an accomplice on a motorbike after allegedly planning the attack in advance.
The clip shows Moreno turning up for the meeting in the company of her young children.
As she approaches the building, she is attacked with the large blade as the shocked children look on.
Moreno’s current partner, waiting by the motorbike they arrived on, then wrestled with the suspect.
With the help of several bystanders, they manage to disarm him.
The victim is seen walking away from the scene while holding her head.
In a separate video, the suspect is seen jumping on the back of his accomplice’s motorbike before fleeing the scene.
He still remains at large.
The attack took place in the rural area of Cogua located north of Bogotá in Colombia on 1 January.
The suspect reportedly struck her over 15 times with the machete.
The victim was hospitalised in a serious condition and has undergone several life-saving operations, as reported by Need To Know.
Her cousin Deivid Moreno said: “She had five surgeries on her head, two on her face, and one on her hand, and she still needs to have another.
“Laura was in intensive care for several days, but as soon as she woke up, she immediately asked about her children.
“The truth is, she has been very affected by this.
“She is scared this guy will try to do something to her again.
“The worst thing is that the children are worried when they misbehave because they think their father will show up and do something bad to them and their mother.
“Luckily, her current boyfriend was there that day, and he was able to take the machete from the attacker.
“There was a short struggle while my cousin took her two children by the hand to cross the road.
“The suspect then waited for his accomplice to arrive.
“In that moment, he took the opportunity to flee the scene.
“His accomplice showed up, said a few words to him, and he got on the motorbike and escaped towards San Cayetano Road.”
The alleged accomplice has been named as Jhon Castañeda, the suspect’s cousin.
The search for Castañeda, who separated from the victim six years ago, is ongoing.
