A four-year-old girl tragically died after being struck by lightning in her own home.
Ashly Lucía Fajardo Cuéllar was rushed to hospital.
But she sadly passed away before she could be treated.

Two other children, aged 14 and 15, were also inside the home and were taken to hospital where they received treatment.

The family lives in a rural area near the municipality of Yacopí, north of Bogota, Colombia.
Residents in the area, which has recently been hit by severe rain, have been left devastated by the girl’s tragic death.

It happened on Monday (6 Jan), as reported by Need To Know.
Captain Álvaro Farfán of Cundinamarca Fire Department, confirmed her death and the other injuries.
Authorities are currently investigating the case while providing support to Ashly’s family.

A series of recommendations to others have been made so that tragedies like this can be avoided.
The rainy season is continuing to affect several areas in Colombia.
