He was taken to a local hospital in Echt, Netherlands, but was then quickly transported to another via a trauma helicopter.
It was at the hospital in Maastricht where Sid underwent four surgeries.
In total, he spent two weeks in hospital with his family regularly providing updates on the sporting talent.

Soon after the accident which occurred in Swalmen, Limburg, on 22 December, the family revealed that Sid’s injuries were very serious.
Yesterday, the family released a statement confirming that the Dutch champion had passed away, as reported by Need To Know.
They wrote: “Last Monday there was a small ray of hope in Sid’s situation.”
“At the end of the week, this ray of hope changed into the darkest scenario and it became an unfair fight that Sid could not win.

“Sid fought like a lion.
“We – Reinold and Rianne, Boyd, Muck and Loek – fought with him until the last minute with everything we had in us, the doctors and nurses did what they could.
“Sid died this afternoon in the presence of his warm family.”
Sid’s cousin, Collin Veijer, has also shared emotional words on social media.
Collin, who is a professional motorbike racer, said: “You fought as hard as you could against everything that happened, but you couldn’t win this heavy and difficult battle.”
“You give me more motivation to fight as hard as you did.
“I love you, Sid.”
Collin finished third in the Moto3 world championship this year.
Sid had become Dutch Champion in the Minibike Junior A-class last year.
