The family of a 21-year-old nail technician killed in a horror crash have been leaving lights beside her roadside memorial so she “isn’t in the dark”.

Dolly Reed died following a two-vehicle collision on Hawthorn Hill, Maidenhead, Berks, at around 8.40am on Saturday, 29 August.

The young woman, from Dedworth, Windsor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now, her family have shared new photographs of Dolly as they described the “beautiful angel” whose death has “changed the course of their lives forever”.

Floral tributes have continued to grow at the scene, with Dolly’s loved ones returning to add lights in a particularly poignant gesture.

“Her family and close friends have even been adding lights to make sure that Dols isn’t in the dark,” family friend Gemma, who is speaking on behalf of Dolly’s parents, Amy and Jason, told Need To Know.

“Dolly was everything to so many people.

“She had the biggest heart and loved wholeheartedly.

“She had this incredible ability to make the world feel like a better place simply by being in it.”

Dolly lived at home with mum Amy, dad Jason and her 12-year-old sister Betsy.

She also had two brothers, Callum and Vinnie.

Gemma said the entire family had been left “absolutely heartbroken”.

She added: “This is a tragic event that has changed the course of their lives forever.

“Dolly had such a huge network of people who loved her.

“The devastation is being felt by so many, her wider family, who she was incredibly close to, her friends, and everyone whose life she touched.”

Dolly worked as a nail technician at Nail Talk in Burnham, where her death is also being mourned by the customers she had got to know through her work.

Gemma said: “She built such lovely relationships with her many clients.

“They too are feeling this devastating loss.”

Her colleagues at Nail Talk have also paid tribute, describing Dolly as a “cherished member” of the team who was known for her “optimism, loyalty and being such a bright light”.

The salon has opened a book of condolences for clients and friends to share memories and kind words.

Previously, loved ones described Dolly as “fun, crazy, funny, caring and completely one of a kind”.

They said she had a “big personality” and could make people laugh without even trying.

The outpouring of grief since her death has extended far beyond her immediate family.

Gemma says thousands of messages of love, support and condolence have been sent following the tragedy.

A JustGiving fundraiser was created after relatives, friends and members of the wider community repeatedly asked how they could support Dolly’s family.

It has already raised more than £18,000, smashing its original £10,000 target.

Gemma said: “The response has gone far beyond anything we could ever have imagined.

“We honestly cannot thank everyone enough for the kindness, love and support that has been shown to Dolly and her family.

“It means more than people could ever know during this incredibly difficult time.”

Thames Valley Police previously said the collision involved a black Renault Twingo and a grey Ford Transit.

Dolly was driving one of the vehicles, although police have not publicly confirmed which.

Her family is being supported by specially trained officers.

Police have appealed for witnesses and said a number of motorists who may have seen the collision apparently left before officers arrived.

Investigators are particularly keen to obtain any relevant dashcam footage.

Dolly’s loved ones said they ultimately want her to be remembered for the effect she had on those around her.

In an earlier family tribute, they said: “More than anything, we just want Dolly to be remembered for the incredible girl she was.

“We are completely heartbroken, but knowing how loved Dolly was brings us some comfort in the middle of all this pain.

“Sleep peacefully, our beautiful Dolly.

“We love you more than words can ever say.”
