A British biker has died in hospital after suffering catastrophic injuries in a horror motorcycle crash – just days after his family launched a fundraising appeal to help him recover.
Ray Hickson, from Boston, Lincolnshire, had been left fighting for his life after the collision.
His sons had appealed for donations to help cover his ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation and specialist care as they hoped he would recover from devastating injuries.

The crash took place in the Girmeler region of Seydikemer, Muğla, Turkey.
But friends have now confirmed Ray, who had lived in the resort town of Fethiye for a number of years, has tragically died in hospital, as reported by Need To Know.
Posting on Facebook, a family friend wrote: “We have some sad and shocking news.

“Early hours of this morning Ray died in Muğla Hospital.
“His family have been notified.
“Ray is having autopsy today to find the cause.”
Just days earlier, Ray’s sons had described the uncertainty facing the family as they asked for help during what they hoped would be a long road to recovery.
In their fundraiser, they said Ray had suffered a double fracture to his pelvis, fractured vertebrae and a bleed on the brain, leaving the left side of his body severely compromised.

He underwent multiple treatments in intensive care at Muğla Hospital after the collision.
The family said the accident happened when a car crossed the centre line and collided with Ray’s motorcycle.
They wrote: “Anyone who knows Ray knows him as a kind, generous and caring man who is loved by his family and valued by everyone who has the pleasure of knowing him.”
Ray is survived by his three sons and two grandchildren, with a third grandchild on the way.

Before he was found, friends had launched a desperate appeal after Ray failed to return home and was reported missing.
His funeral is due to take place on Wednesday, July 22 with friends invited to bring flowers and share memories before gathering afterwards to celebrate his life.
