Two men are fighting for their lives after being gored by bulls during a religious festival.
The first was struck in the neck in the bullring as onlookers screamed in shock.
Spectators were heard shouting “Help him please” and wrongly “It killed him.”
Crowd members distracted the animal as the victim was dragged from the arena.
A second man was then tossed around like a rag doll as spectators threw red capes at the raging bull to distract it.
They happened at separate events in northern Colombia on Saturday (18 Jan).
The first bullfighting event was staged as part of the patron saint festivities in San Sebastián de Buenavista, north of Bogota.
The unnamed victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he is reportedly fighting for his life in ICU.
The second bull attack happened in the nearby municipality of Lorica.
Leonardo Martínez suffered injuries to his back and legs after he reportedly tried to mount the animal.
The injuries sparked outrage online with many locals calling for the bullfighting ban to be brought forward.
In May last year, Colombia’s Congress passed a bill which will ban bullfighting across the country from 2027.
The country will join several Latin American countries that have already banned it, such as Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Guatemala.
Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela still allow bullfighting events to be held, as reported by Need To Know.
It is also legal in most areas of Spain, Portugal and France.
