The incident happened in the commune of Los Lagos, south of Santiago, Chile in the early hours of yesterday (10 Feb).
Francisco said it wasn’t the first time one of his cats had been preyed upon.
He has had several pet felines in the past but they all disappeared and he couldn’t work out why.
He said this was the first time he was able to record the cause of his disappearing moggies.
Francisco, who lives in a mountainous community surrounded by woodland, informed his neighbours about the puma.
Locals said they have also lost pets in the area in recent times, as reported by Need To Know.
Francisco reported the big cat sighting to the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG).
A SAG spokesperson confirmed that they have received the report and are coordinating with local residents to determine the right course of action.
One local said: “He said he didn’t know why his cats have been disappearing, well now he knows!”
Karina added: “We’re the ones who invaded their habitat, what do you expect?”
Eva remarked: “Awww, poor kitty. Hopefully residents will be more careful with their pets after this.”
